Fred Barnes began covering President Gerald R. Ford in 1975 as a national political reporter for the former Washington Star newspaper.  Barnes has also worked as a correspondent or written for the Charleston Post and Courier, Baltimore Sun, New Republic, American Spectator, Reader’s Digest, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Washingtonian and others.  He is one of the founders and editor of The Weekly Standard.
